Twin sisters? (Yap)

When I tell my friends that I have a sister, they are shocked. Maybe this is because most of them are singletons. But they are even more shocked when I tell them that she is now in high school.
I am only about three years older than my sister. Maybe because I was born in winter and she was born in summer, our characteristics are totally different. When we were young, we looked very different. That time, I looked like a boy and she was very lovely just like a pretty princess. My appearance resembles my father’s a lot and my sister’s resembles my mother’s. So when other people looked at our family, they would always say:” Look, there will never be bias in your family.” But as we grew up, we became more and more alike. We have the same height, we have the same figure, we have the same haircut and we have the same manner. So even our neighbors who witnessed our growth now are shocked when they see us. And they can never tell us apart easily now.
For our twin appearance, we have created much confusion to our classmates. Since we were in the same middle school and high school, there were always students from her or my class identified us falsely. Many a time, we were asked the same question by our classmates:” Why didn’t you give me any response when I was greeting you?” Besides these, sometimes our teachers were also confused. When I was in middle school, grade 4, my sister was in grade 2. Her class teacher was in the same office with one of my teachers. And once I went to that office to talk to my teacher, my sister’s class teacher kept observing me in perplexity. Another interesting experience was that when I was in senior 3 and my sister was in senior 1, we lived in the rented house outside our school. Our senior school has two campuses with a road connecting them, I was in the Western Campus and my sister was in the Main Campus. Our house was outside the west gate so my sister had to go across the Western Campus to her classroom in the Main Campus. One of my classmates rented a house outside the main gate and he had to go across the Main Campus to our classroom. Then one afternoon, I was sitting in my seat studying before the class, my classmate came in and looked at me in surprise. Then he spoke to me in a shaking voice:” When did you come in? I saw you were going to the Main Campus just now. Did I encounter a ghost today?!” I felt it very funny and said:” I came in several minutes ago. Do not be afraid, the one you saw was my sister.” “No doubt that I received no response when I waved my hand at her. It’s terrible. How can you look just like twins?”
Besides these, sometimes even my mother can get very confused if we were both turning our backs on her in the same clothes. And sometimes if we changed our clothes with each other, the next moment my mother would make a mistake. So sometimes she was so irritated by this kind of thing that she forbade us to change clothes with each other in the same day. In addition, some people cannot tell apart our voices which is very funny to me. But the other day I listened my own voice on the phone accidentally, I was shocked that moment because I thought it was my sister who was speaking! But actually, that was my voice. This time I came to understand why others always getting confused by us. We are like twins in so many ways!
Whether twins or not, we are close sisters. I have the unique experience staying with my sister these years and nothing beats the family bonds between us. I love my “twin sister.”

  1. Isn't it wonderful to have a sister? you have a soul mate, someone close to you, you can share things with, talk to about your joys, problems, likes - some to just talk to. Siblings sometimes have problems with each other, but they are always short term. Enjoy your time with your sister. Be a role model.
