Last Saturday was one of my friends’ birthday, she was my classmate when we were in senior middle school. Actually, she didn’t know I knew her birthday. I just thought that I can give her a surprise, but I didn’t want to just send a short message to her to celebrate her birthday, I thought that was too simple. I just wanted to make it a little special. I decided to use a classical way, sending letter.
One of my roommates got an experience to send letters to China, so I asked him how long it would take to send a letter to China. He told me approximately two weeks. In order to make sure that she can receive my letter approximately last Saturday; I must send the letter two weeks in advance. Firstly, I went to NUS co-op to buy a post card, envelope and some color pens. Then I wrote some blessing words on the post card to wish her a happy birthday. I printed one of our photos and I pasted it on the back of the post card. I also wrote a letter to tell something about my current situation. After everything was OK, the only thing remain is that sending the letter. The next day after l ate my lunch, it was about 12:45 pm. I was a little afraid that post office didn’t open at that time. Because I think these departments such as clinics need time eat their lunch. However, when I went to the NUS’s post office, it opened at that time. Then I bought a stamp to paste on the envelope. At last I sent my letter into the postbox.
I just thought that when her birthday came, she would receive my letter, but actually, I didn’t get any response from her. Then until this Friday, I received a message from her said that she had already received my letter. She said that although her birthday had passed, she still felt very happy and moved to receive my letter. For me, I also felt very happy that she could like my little present.
That is so sweet of you!
