Jacky has bought a very good camera so it is possible for him to take beautiful photos of the night scene. Then on May 8th, Jacky and I went to city hall to take photos of the beautiful night scene of Singapore.
We got out of the city hall MRT at about 7:30 p.m. A few meters away from the MRT we found a fantastic scene. The moon was right beyond the church near the MRT. The moon was not very bright but hidden in the thin cloud shining. It made both of us think about the myth of the vampires. So we decided to take a photo of that scene. It was very difficult because there was a fence blocking us. So we could not walk nearer, and we spent a lot of time to place the frame of the camera in a good position in order to take beautiful picture of the scene as well as not let the fence block the scene. Then Jacky began to take the picture. He set the exposure time to 10 seconds and then pressed the shutter. It was really a wonderful picture due to Jacky’s effort.
Then we took our way to merlion. During our way we found that the Singapore River was very beautiful at that time. So we took some pictures there. The special result of long time of exposure was very good. The water became very beautiful due to the fantastic light reflecting by the water.
Then we came across the durian. In the same way we took the picture of durian. The durian looked more splendid in the photo. Then Jacky said that we should take pictures of us. So first I leant to the fence and Jacky took a picture of me. But it was really tough because I had to keep the same posture for 10s because the exposure time of the camera is 10s. Then I took a picture of Jacky. Later Jacky set the camera to delay 10s before it expose itself so that we could took a picture of both of us. But at that time I can’t help to laughing. So before the exposure time was over we moved away, and laughed. We didn’t know what would happen to the photo after this unexpected motion. But to our surprise, we became unreal in the picture and we could look through us and see the Durian. But we were very happy because we developed a new kind of taking photos. Later we ran away from the sight of the camera deliberately in order to get that result.
Finally we got to merlion and took some pictures of the signal of Singapore. Then we went back to Eton Hall.

I love photography too - perhaps we could exchange pointers one day? Night scenes are not easy to capture, and the second and third photos are pretty good. WOW!
ReplyDeleteActaully my experiences of capturing at night were all but trauma. I seldom get a overall scene or a close-up with a clear outline. I have told my class in River Valley Primary School that it is just the atomosphere I want to create which surly would be of no help but simply confused them all...hah hah
ReplyDeleteAnyway the method we each try our best to approach is nothing but a matter of personal taste. Just do it in your own way and I believe you can certainly do your best cause you are Jackie lah.
I like the composition of your photos. Two of them could make good postcards! And the one with you and Jacky with the 'Durian' like a cap or a spaceship hovering above your heads is quite clever. Enjoy your new hobby!
