Look at the world through a microscope, you can find virus and germs. But through your insight and observation, the world is colorful and full of human devices. Let me share some discoveries in Singapore with you. But I have to make an announcement first: the analysis below hasn’t been confirmed, in another word, it may not be true, just my individual opinions.
1, Q: Why must we press the button if we want to cross the road?
A: In order to reduce the waiting time. If pedestrians press the button to get the” green man”, the traffic system may react by reducing the waiting time for the pedestrians.
2,Q: why can we hear reminding sound” Bi…Bi…..Bi” when we pedestrians get the “green man”?
A: because some pedestrians can’t tell the difference between the green light and red light easily. So the system use the sound to give a friendly reminder to those pedestrians.
3, Q: why do some buses forbid standing?
A: Some buses have notice that “ Strictly no standing on the bus until the bus gets the destination” while others do not. If you are carful enough, you can find that the buses which forbid standing have no handles or some other devices for standing passengers, so for security, they don’t allow standing. Those buses are usually rent for tourism not used for public transportation.
4,Q: why the buildings in NUS are combined as a whole like a maze?
A: Reason1: Because nobody can give a precise prophecy whether it is going to rain or not in Singapore, when it rains suddenly , “good luck” to those without an umbrella .But if you are in NUS, take it easy, the combined buildings can help you. you don’t need to rush in the rain, just follow the signs then you can get to the ultimate destination. But if you still get lost, you will have yourself to blame.
Reason2: the combined building represents “unity”. The designer hoped everyone in NUS could unite as a whole.
Above are the results of my observation and pondering, maybe you have noticed that, maybe you don’t agree with me. My suggestion is that observe more and think more, you will get a good harvest.

Aren`t these the wonders of Technology? Our lives are made so much more convenient with these technological devices. I must admit we do take all these for granted. We often forget the inventors, the planners, and the designers behind all these ideas.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these interesting observations. I also observed these, but I didn't think like you. Maybe the more we observe, the more fun we'll have.I'm argee with your suggestion "observe more and think more, you will get a good harvest." Maybe we should say a big "thank you" to those people who invented these devices.
