"A confused sensation of having suddenly lost my familiarity with the past, without acquiring any additional clearness of idea in reference to the present or the future, took possession of my mind. " Collins wrote those lines and I quote, which perfectly depict my current feeling being a newcomer in Singapore.
At such a tough transitional period, I keep everything that once etched in my mind with great delicacy for fear of losing track of those vivid memories. However, every time I try hard to walk down the memory lane and figure out the blur of the past, the awareness of our being apart tears me into pieces. In the last few days before the departure, we both deliberately avoided meeting each other as if that would definitely become the last meeting. This continued until I eventually boarded the plane in a hurry.
I parted from you, without my farewells bid and without a chance to shed tears in front of you.
I miss you. Take a leave at your hardest times, I even do not know how to comfort you. I dare not to pick up the phone and hear your voice coming from afar any more. I wonder and ponder, intending to come up with the best possible words that can immediately release you before I am courageous enough to contact you.
Sometimes I write several lines as a short poem especailly for you, and this time once more. I do not know what will help but I hope those will do.
My dear friend,
how can I polish your mood against dust,
how can I stretch out my hand to comfort your heart,
how can I fly to your side to cheer you up,
how can I convince you that we are not apart.
Just be happy and be strong. We can make it!!!
p.s. I will also post it on my xiaonei homepage in hope of her viewing it. Just let her know I am caring her loving her also...

ReplyDeleteEn...sometimes I have the same feelings.Friendship is one of our most precious things.Actually, though now we are far away from friends,I think a real good-fellowship won't change and maybe it can be a opportunity for us to make new friends.
ReplyDeleteDear Veronica
ReplyDeleteIt is good to know that you are someone who treasures friendship.
Through your sharing, I know that those whom you consider to be your close friends are so blessed to have a true friend in you.
On a related issue, sometimes a period of separation could make a relationship or friendship even stronger because each individual meanwhile, would have the time to mature and develop his/her potential in the absence of the other person, leading to a better appreciation of each other when they do come back again later on.
Hehe~This may be the third or forth blog I have read about friendship.I think we all Sm3 students have the same emotion as yours.Being far away from home let us cherish our old friends in China very much and makes this relation even more stable than before. But what I am going to say is that to make friends in Singapore as many as possible and let them be your old and close friends may be better than just yearning for the old ones in China. So let us be your friends and kick the homesick away, life will be more colorful here.

ReplyDeleteEvery time I read some words which are about friendship, I miss my friends even more. However, we cannot live in our past. We are here, and I think our friends also want us to have beautiful and happy lives here. Treasure your old friends and make new friends will make your life more colourful.

ReplyDeleteHaving seen this blogger for several times, every time, I can come up with different ideas about this. Today, I deliberately find it and want to leave some words.
ReplyDeleteThe earth is running what the life is varying. We can predict what will happen and where we are to be. However, what we can control is our heart. We know what we mean and what we feel while few persons can understand you if you don't express it. As long as you love your parents, just say" I love you" directly. As long as you cherish the friendship between you, just let her know. It's the worst pity is not that you cannot find a real friend other than you diminish the friendship you both cherish. Really admire your sincere friendship and wish my best wishes to you. Had better not avoid that last moment, or you probably feel a little regretful. Because the moments you stay toghter is wonderful, we should make the most of time and try our best to get longer wonderful time. Actrually, in one's life, I don't know how many people one will have the feeling like your feeling to your friend. How happy you are! How happy you friend is!
Hi Veronica, friendship is precious. We treasure WHO we have. We may not be together physically all the time, but to know that there is someone out there who will run to us in our times of need, is the be truly blessed. Similarly, we are also the one to run to that special someone when he/she needs us. Having said that, we are consciously aware that we have our path to follow. I agree with Mr Wilson that separation may make us mature and reflect on our love for each other. We should also recognise that we can have a deep and meaningful relationship even though far apart. We just do not forget good friends. You sounded homesick. Only you can tell yourself on your course of action , and not allow the separation to affect your work. I am very sure your friend will not want that either.
