I’m taking a bridging course. In order to be better in studying in university in six months, I want to be a successful student in this semester.
Firstly, I should improve my English. English is not a easy job for me. I think the most difficult parts are vocabulary and writing. When I am writing in English I always find it’s hard to explain my feelings and to write in correct sentence patterns. The result is that my articles are usually consisted of simple words and patterns in it are same. So I think I must learn more writing skills as well as memorizing new words this semester.
Secondly, it’s very important for me to make new friends here. Nobody is a deserted island in the world. We must communicate with others. Especially for us, as we are in foreign country now, far away from our families, the first people we will turn to in difficulties are our friends. So we must learn to help each other. Moreover, I want to make some local friends. This will help me to get used to the conventions and be more familiar with my life here.
At last, I think I should keep health this semester, because good health is one of the most valuable things in my life. It can not only give me more energy in study, overcoming challenges, etc. As a result I will take exercises regularly and take part in sport such as basketball games, swimming. It’s a long way for me to go to be a successful student; I will try my best to do so.

Thanks for sharing. I believe this is your new year resolution? =)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that making friends with the locals is an important aspect of one's life overseas. I have met many Singaporeans working overseas who tend to mingle with other overseas Singaporeans instead of befriending more locals. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but I believe one aspect of living and working / studying overseas is to broaden one's horizon, and you can never do that if you stick to the same small circle of your fellow countrymen.
Glad you've taken the first step to adapting to life in Singapore!
Cheers,
Ms. Lim
