My learning strategies in learning English

I was very thankful to my English teacher in the senior high school. She not only taught me a lot of new words and phrases, but also the way to learn English. With the help of her I get a good strategy in learning English. Here I am going to talk about it.
I think the most effective way to learn English is to read English text. When you come across a new text, first scan it, know the general meaning of the text, so that you can practice your reading comprehension. Then read more details, to guess the meaning of the new words and phrases. Consequencely, you should look up the new words and phrases in the dictionary to find whether your guess is correct or not. So that you will understand the new words and phrases better and it’s easier for you to remember.
Secondly, read every sentence to find whether you can translate the sentence correctly and easily. If you can’t then there will be some grammar used in the sentence that you don’t understand. Then turn to teacher for help to know what the grammar is and how to use it, so that you will learn the grammar at the same time.
The third step is to recite it, not actually recite, but recite the sentences which contain some news words or difficult grammar according to the meaning in Chinese. If you can recite it easily, you understand the text as well as the words and grammar and the way to use them idiomatically.
This is my learning strategy in learning English. I think it is very useful and it helps me a lot, and I will pursue it in my learning here.
