Time flies

Since I went to high school, I never sigh with emotion that the time flows and would never stop because I think it's nonsense since to say that. However, I have no choice but to say that the time really flows and would never stop. I have come here for 6 months. I just can't imagine this to be true. The time really goes too fast, maybe one day, when I get up, I would surprisingly discover that I have lived here for 10 years and it's time to go back to China already.
How I wish the time really flew like the bird flied pass my window, which disappeared in a twinkling of an eye. I have left my motherland for6 months. Are you all OK, My parents, my friends? In the above paragraph, I force myself to think the time passed quickly. However, I do feel that the time passed so slowly that the December, by which time I will go back to my hometown for a few days will never come. Although I know I will certainly have chance to go back in just a few months, I still can't manage to stop myself from being home sick.
However, as a man, a man from China, I will never stop going forward due to difficulty or any missing feeling. I will keep going till tomorrow, no matter what difficulty I will meet because I am a man from China, a man with ideal, and what's more, a man who want to make those who love him and those whom he loves live a happy and rich life in the future.
I want to end this article with a song named . You know the closer you get to something, the tougher it is to see it. I will never take it for granted. Let's go!!!
LET'S GO!!!!

The last words

I never know how near I am with the parting until I have to face it. Remembering it is about ten months ago, I attended Dalian University of Technology and began living a relatively independent life. Seven months ago, I had to say goodbye to my friends, my parents and my motherland to come to Singapore to start my new life. Now, it is near the time when we graduate from CELC and leave Eton Hall for NUS. In a year, prating happens again and again and I am not able to deny it. I think, what I can do is to leave and carry with these valuable memories.
In Group 5, I met nineteen brothers and sisters, and we live together and help each other. In Basketball Match, Badminton Match as well as Table Tennis Match, though we did not get the very satisfactory results, we stood as a whole and cheered together. In fact, what we got may not only be the joys from the matches, but also togetherness. In classes, we share our ideas and understand each other. Out of classes, we showed our various strong suits, such as basketball, badminton and so on. We keep optimistic and fight for our common goals that are to study English well and learn to live independently. We completed a drama with the help of our tutors to show it to all the people who give us help and care since we arrived at Singapore. Besides, I feel so lucky that I can do a research with Jacky, Veronica and Harry. I am thankful that they help me correct my presentation script and that they teach us how to do a fairy good research. In addition, I am impressive that all the performance are made by my friends in class, I really really learns a lot.
Another lucky thing that I met is that I am taught by our five tutors who are worthy of respect and appreciation. They have different styles of teaching and teach us not only how to learn English well but also how to think and to act. Teacher Christine always advices us to pay an attention to the lovely animals and scenery around us, I realize that life is what we should learn to appreciate and enjoy. She also highlights four abbreviations which are important to a person, namely PP (personal principles), PR (personal responsibilities), and PC (personal choice or personal commitment). In addition, with her help, our last part of drama, “Do, Re, Mi” song become shining when we rehearsal.
Mdm Tan who is our group leader is very responsible. She pays a lot attention to the whole class. She brings some maps as well as encourages us to make some pictures to decorate our tutorial room like our home. She teaches us how to think, and guides us to discuss something related to the moral affairs. Moreover, in my point of view, she is a sensitive person and she always shows us short but encouraging and moving videos which tell the stories that small fishes succeed in doing big things.
Mr Wilson is always kind to us. I think nobody will forget his lovely fruit at each noon and the jokes as well as the stories which are related to his life in army. He likes to focus on the mistakes that we make when we speak or write and he always find them out to elaborate how to use correctly. In addition, he is a well-read man in my view and maybe he benefits from not only his experiences but also Google which he recommends to us almost every class.
Mrs Yep is our fourth tutor, and it is amazing that she is already 75 but looks like 50. She is an excellent story-teller and she also likes to listen to stories from us. Sometimes, she gave us some hard topic of oral report, such as “if you are a Singapore dollar coin, what’s your journey in one day?” “A big thing you do with a little love” etc. Indeed, I appreciate it that I know how to enjoy making up stories and listening to stories.
If you want me to use one word to describe Ms. Lim, I think, the most suitable one is “energetic”. What she has done all show that she is energetic. Based on her hobbies, she likes adventures very much and she does a lot of extreme sports which the men may hesitate to have a try. When she gave us class, she always intends to divide us in some groups to make some discussions even though some parts are hard to discuss. Besides discussions, she also organizes us to make a virtual show successfully. All these really make us energetic in class as well.
Personally, I am rather grateful to all of my tutors. Because they do me a favor when I am in trouble whether it is about my life or study. I do not know say what else besides the endless “Thank you” and maybe what I or we can do is to try our best to pass QET and put them in my heart.
Time is coming when we separate, my friends, tutors and the persons who give me a hand, I want to say” Keep in touch and hope the next we meet, we all could not be better!”

last but not least

May 31, 2009 is the last day for the exhibition in EXPO. EXPO is near Changi airport. I went there today with three students from SM2. We first went to the city harvest church. Watch the show then listen to churchman’s impressive word about life. Two of our four including me are not Christians, but we think it’s good to listen to him. We can benefit a lot.
Then, we went to EXPO Hall 5. It is a quite small exhibition. But there were hundreds of thousands of people there walking around. Huan Yu went with me. We found BEE CHENG HIANG there. And we bought some fork floss and chocolate floss. Since chocolate will melt somehow in common temperature, I have to put it into fridge. But it is not allowed in Eton Hall. Whether it will melt or not is unsure. But I found it is a good thing to give to our tutor. I ask my research group member for permission, they all agree with me. Happy ending lah!
There is also another thing I bought called Sha Die. It needs to be stored in fridge. Since I can’t put it in the fridge for so long, I must finish it soon.
Fortunately, untie allow me to let it cooked by uncle. So I will share it with my roommates and other friends. Hope we can enjoy it!
This is the last blog I write. Now I’m doing the final draft of the research report. Hope we can do it well. Group leader Si Chen tells me to write my blog first, because it’s around the dead line. I want to say thank you to him for his considerate heart. I am quite happy work with them. This is the first time I found myself in a team. I will remember it for a life long time.

Book responding: Two thousand leagues under the sea

After nearly four days reading, I finally finish the book Two thousand leagues under the sea. This book is written by Jules-Verne, a famous France writer.
It mainly tells a story about a ichthyologist who had received to hunt a monster in the ocean which had already destroyed several ships in the ocean. But when they came across the monster, they found that it was actually a submarine. By accident, the ichthyologist, his servant and a Canadian harpooner were trapped in the submarine. The submarine belonged to Captain Nemo who hated the world on the land very much and decided to get away from the outside world. He gave this three people full freedom in the submarine, but they could not go back to the ground forever. During the trip under the sea, the ichthyologist had seen the wonderful world under the world. He had seen many fish that he, as an ichthyologist, had never seen before. The trip under the sea was not always smooth. They had met many exciting experiences, like giant squid, savages and being trapped in the Antarctic lacking of air. Although the trip was wonderful, the desire for freedom was even stronger. They finally tried their best to escape from the submarine and got the freedom.
This is really a very good book. The trip that the writer describes is just like he has really seen it in his own eyes. Although there are many difficult adjectives, but I can still understand the main idea of the story. On one hand, I appreciated it that Captain Nemo has the chance to explore the undersea world that seldom have man reached, on the other hand he has abandoned the real world, it seems that his life is so boring. This is not very bearable for an ordinary man like me. So if you let choose, I will not be a man like him.

One of my roommates

I have a roommate in Eton Hall called Hu Shangpeng. He comes from Huazhong University in Hunan Province.
The first time I saw him, I didn’t have any special impression about him. But this is just in the view of a man. A few weeks later, I found many girls were talking about him secretly. It seemed that he was very popular among girls. So from then on I started to observe him.
He is about 180 cm high, so it is not surprised to me that he can play basketball. But the thing that surprises me is that he can play it so well. Every time he plays, he will be the core man in the team and will also attract many girls’ attention. He is only weaker than another boy from Dalian University.
A few weeks after we lived in Eton Hall, we had a billiard ball match. Surprised I found his name on the player list. Then I went to see the match. It was really a fierce match. He defeated many players and came to the final round. Unfortunately he lost the last round. But he was still the second. From then on he was more popular among the girls.
Since he is always the second in any sports, we always call him Mr Second for kidding. We think since he is so popular among girls, he will fall in love with a girl soon. But later we find he has already had a girl friend in China and every Saturday he will call his girl friend for more than an hour. So we know he is not a play boy, on the contrary he is very single minded. He always says for fun that he can think out how he can’t be popular among the girls.
He is really a nice person. Thanks to his single minded, we will have more chance to chase the girls we want.

One for all, all for one(part five)

Hello, everyone. This is my last post of the introduction of our “family”. I hope that all of us can leave you good impression. The English Course is coming to an end. I also wish all of you can enjoy the last days and make good efforts in the Science Course.

Look at the three girls on the left in the picture. The loveliest girl, also the plumpest, is called Wu Bo, ranking 12. She is in Group 6. She is from the north province of China. In our daily life, she always smiles and laughs. I like her smiles very much. In her appearance, I can see that she is always optimistic on life. Our “family member” all like to play jokes on her. Of course, she never gets angry. She has applied ISE as her major. Good luck to her and I wish that she can do well in the future.

The girl on the right side of Wu Bo is Guo Jing, in Group 1, ranking 11. Among our 15 members, she is from the most south---Henan. Actually, I think she is younger than her age because she always asks some naive questions. Generally speaking, she is very kind-hearted also. She is very careful as very. I think that everyone may have a good impression about her.

I’d like to introduce more about the left one---Zhu Tianming. We have been classmates since 4 years ago. In my senior high school, she sat in front of me. We were good friends before and now also. In the National College Entrance Examination, we got the same marks and were selected by the same major in the same university. We both got the opportunity to attend the test for coming to Singapore and we both succeeded. After coming out of the Changi Airport, we got the news that we were both selected by NUS and then our next 4 years classmates began. In daily life, we have a lot of things to talk, about hometown, about our classmates and teacher, and also about our experience in senior high school. She is good at math and physics. The subject that she does the worst is English. We are both glad that we have a friend who is from the same city and we can go back home together. We also treasure our friendship. I hope that we can be good friends not only the eight years, but also forever!

For this, I have already finished my blog about our “family”. The course is coming to an end, but the learning will never end. I hope every member of my family will have a beautiful life in the future. Remember our slogan------One for all, all for one!

Meals at Home

A few weeks ago we had a wonderful experience. We were involved in a program called meals at home. Last week was the first we went to our host family.
Since there is a long way between Eton Hall and our host family, we took the MRT. We rushed all the way to our host family. After we left the train and waited for a few minutes, one of our host family members came to drove us to their home. We had a tough experience, because there is not enough room for us in the car. I had to sit on one of my friends’ legs. I thought he suffered a lot. I had said that he should sit on my legs, not the other way round, but he insisted to do so. I felt really guilty.
In our host family’s home, we had a big meal. The food was really fantastic. We tried some of the wonderful local food. I had a good appetite that I did not have for a long time. Besides, we talked happily. It was the first time I had confident in my English. We did not find any obstacle when we were communicating. We talked about almost every thing. One of the uncles told a lot of stories which were really interesting. He was graduated from NUS, so he was actually our seniors. He told a lot of interesting things in the university which was amazing. One thing was that they had so called naked festival, which I could not imagine.
The hosts were very kind. When the time we had to went back to Eton Hall, uncle insisted to drive us back to Eton Hall. I think it was kind enough if they could say goodbye to us outside the door, but they drove us back to Eton Hall. I thought they were so generous.
