There are many friendships in our world. I think that friendship is the most holy word on earth. We need each other and we help each other. But do we really trust our friends? Maybe sometimes not. We have so many secrets in our mind and we can't believe anyone in the world. That is to say, you are lonely. This is the true situation before you find a real friend.
A real fiend is a friend who really cares about you. He can share happiness and sorrow with you. He will feel happy when you smile and he will feel sad when you cry. He can do almost everything for you except something illegal. He even cares you more than himself. But when you do something wrong, he will tell directly to you and some words may be fierced. Do you get angry with this? I think that is a way he cares about you. So, I think that a lot of money is easy to get but a real friend is difficult to find
In a word, a real friend is a friend that you can truly believe in. You can trust him and tell all tell all the secrets to him. You may have a lot of friends in the world, but you will have just few real friends or even none. So, value a real friend because he is the one who you can really trust.

A Real Friend

Learning Reflection
In today’s lesson, we’ve discussed about the communication between men and women, which is related to the contents of TL&S (Tapestry Listening& Speaking). In the class, tutor gave us a chance to do a role play, it was very interesting. Our classmates’ perfect and fantastic performance not only made the atmosphere of class more interesting, but also helped us get a better understanding of the main idea of this class.
When tutor explained some thing for us, she said a sentence whose main idea is like this (I can’t remember her original sentence): “if she/he had the patient to conflict with you, at least she/he still cared about you. So this situation is even better than she/he don’t conflict with you, because he/she don’t care you any more, he/she even don’t want to conflict with you.” After I heard the sentence, I felt really very agree with her. And I thought this sentence is not only suitable for this kind of situation for wife and husband, not also it can apply to other situation.
This reminds me of a Chinese ancient motto: “the more you love a person, the more you hate him/her.” Seemingly, this motto is self-contradiction. But in actually, this sentence comprises lots of philosophy. So let’s us think about this situation. The parents have a high expectation for their child; however, their child is too naughty to study very well. So the parents will feel so disappointed about him/her, because the child doesn’t live up to their parents’ expectation. So the parents’ loves are so strong that they can’t understand and forgive their child’s poor performance. Even though the child may complain for his/her parents’ punishment, in another view, I can say the child is fortunate, because parent really hope they could live well and make a good effect for their study or career.
So, sometimes others can take care of you even more than yourself. For ourselves, we should also try to comprehend others’ kindness.

Reflection after a concert
Last night, we went to the Victoria Concert Hall, to listen to Romantics Rekindled performanced by Braddell Heights Symphony Ochestra. Compared with the concert we had been to on 15th Feb, this one seemed to be more formal. Unlike hamonicas in the last concert, the main instruments in this concert were violins. I had never been to concert like this in China, so, to be honest, I could almost understand nothing about the content of what they were playing. Only through the booklet I got from the reception desk could I know something about the performance. Nevertheless, I kept my eyes widely open with my great effort all the way and I found it interesting gradually.
The performance was quite nice. The first section was Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D major, Beethoven. The chief violin was Varbanov. I had never heard him, however, his first show I saw impressed me so much that I might never forget. After this section was finished, the applause from audience lasted so long that he had to came back from the backstage to thank the audience for three or four times.
The following section was Symphony No.3 in F major, Johannes Brahms. There was no solo violin in this section. And the result was a long applause as well. The last section was a dance called Polovtsian Dances. It was also very nice.
The performance ended with a deafening applause.Although I could not understand this excellent concert very well, I still thought that I should attend this kind of concert as much as possible. Instead of wasting time on playing meaningless games or being in a trance in hostel, going to a concert like this may be much more meaningful. As a matter of fact, it is good for the person like me, who was not educated much in art before, to attend concert to improve his ability to appreciate art.

What English Has Brought to Me
It has been more than six years since the first time I had an English class. I was in my first year in junior high school and knew nothing about this language. As time went by, I had learnt more and more about the English language and become better and better at it. From all these years of hard work, I have benefitted a lot.
First of all, knowing English enables me to learn a wide range of different ideas. Since English is the most widely spoken language in the world and people from all the other non-English-speaking countries are learning English, I can use English to communicate with people from all over the world.
Besides, by learning English, I am able to read books of various kinds, some even cannot be found in China, and since English has become the International language, I can travel around the world with less difficulty in communication.
Also, knowing English allows me to get to know other forms of culture and helps me understand the world better, which, to a great degree, has broadened my horizon. What’s more? Without knowing English, I wouldn’t have a chance to study in the world-famous NUS today!
After next to two month’s study in Singapore, I again confirmed the importance of the English language. Throughout all these days, I’ve improved my English a lot. I think in the rest of the years, I will continue trying my best to learn English, so that one day I will perfectly master this language and eventually become a global citizen.

Keep up the good work
Dear students
It is good to see the extent of your blog writing on a range of experiences and not forgetting the lovely pictures. Thank you for sharing them with us. We will soon be reaching the end of phase one. Do reflect on your learning and continue to put in a lot of effort in your studies. Each day will always bring new experiences and many interesting challenges. How fortunate we are to be part of this circle of life.

The two things depressed me these days
These days seemed very deviant. It seemed that everything was out of our thoughts. This made me very unhappy and a little cynical.
The first thing which made me very depressed was that the female guard was fired. I don’t know the reason why she was fired. Someone said it was because of her kindness. Maybe that guess was correct. If you want me to use a word to describe her, maybe no word can be better than “warm-hearted”. I still don’t know why she can't stay with us for the following several months. What I know is that she is a kind, warm-hearted and considerate person. Every night, she went to every dormitory to turn on air-conditions and reminded us of studying, not playing or making phone calls. Every midnight, she knocked a room to another to make sure every room had turned off the light. Even some morning, she might knock our doors to make us get up so that we could catch the bus on time. I was confused and surprised how it happened that aunties didn’t like her, how it happened that such a kind lady was fired. God bless her. She can find a better job in the future. I hope so.
Next, what made me very depressed and surprised was the result of the election of hostel committee. All of us know that the vote of our “elder sister” was larger than the sum of other three’s. Why did MOE choose two of the three instead of her? If the vote was not taken into consideration, it was no need to gather us to attend the election. MOE could choose who they wanted. It was no need to use this artifice. I was very sad to know the result. Congratulations to the two girls. Both of you are very good and I think you can do the work well.
Not everything is in your control. Try to receive the results and be satisfied with it. You may be happy if you have an optimistic attitude.
